Nutshell

In 2002, a tragedy struck the rock world. Lead vocalist Layne Staley of Alice in Chains passed away. After nearly eight years of drug abuse, his body had finally given up. But what this man managed to accomplish in his career was nothing short of amazement. He was a pioneer of the Grunge Movement in the 90s and he had one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in rock n roll history. Everyone on this Earth should know who Layne is. A part of what made his music so great was all the honesty and feelings he put in his music. And that brings us to the title of this post, NUTSHELL, one of the simplest and most amazing songs ever created. The song is about drug addiction and the pain it carries. The lyrics are simple and effective and the way Layne sings it will undoubtedly bring a tear to your eye. I love this man for his honesty and ability to perform such a heartfelt song. Even though it is very simple, it's one of those songs where you can see into his soul and how his struggle with addiction was something very hard to comprehend.
