Number 9: Santeria by Sublime
The chorus is so catchy and everyone knows the words. The solo is amazing and it is just a happy song. "Cause I don't practice Santeria, I ain't got no crystal ball...I feel the break, feel the break, and I gotta live it up, yea but I swear but I..." yea, you all know the rest. You can't go wrong with Sublime.
Number 8: Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones and also covered by Bush
Okay, this is one of those songs that will make you cry with happiness. Though I personally do not like the original as much as Bush's cover, I still praise the Rolling Stones for making this masterpiece. I still to this day have no idea what it is about., but all I know is it makes me listen and admire. This song deserves to be in the top 25 without a doubt.
Number 7: #41 by Dave Matthews Band
It makes me sick to my stomach the mainstream hates Dave Matthews, mainly because his style is so different from anyone else. He is in a sense his own genre and he is amazing. This song was on his breakthrough album "Crash." There is something about the guitar riff and something about the way he sings it that gives me goosebumps. There is a lot of mystery to the song because of it's title and because it's hard to figure out what it's about. This is what makes it so great. Also, this song is SOOOOO much better live. Many may not agree with me, but it grows on you. It's another hidden gem.
Number 6: Black by Pearl Jam
Yes, the song on the album Ten and probably their most emotional song that wasn't a single because Eddie Vedder called it "too personal." Vedder has one of the best voices in rock and here it is evident why. He cries for love when his entire world has turned to black. It is just so gripping and so powerful. You can't go wrong with this song.
Number 5: November Rain by Guns N' Roses
This is in my opinion, Axl Rose's best vocal performance. The piano intro is incredible, as well as the epic Slash shredding solo at the end. The song is about love and it's just one of those songs that never gets old. Everyone knows this song. This is their most emotional and their most gripping song to date and it was made at the height of their popularity. I can't praise it enough.
Number 4: Landslide by Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks
"Well Ive been, afraid of changes, cause I lived my life around you. And the landslide will bring it down...can I sail through the changing ocean tides, can I handle the seasons of my life." This is THE song of life. It describes how every human being is afraid of changing and moving on. It is so sad and yet so effective. It says "I'm getting older" and no matter how old this song gets, it will always be evident in any time. This is a song that will last forever. The guitar is also incredible in this one.
Number 3: Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
Yes, everyone calls it the greatest song of all time, but I do not believe it is. And the only reason is because everyone says it is. Yes, this is the ideal song, it has a slow beginning and it picks up with every verse, until finally it unleashes an orgasmic solo and Robert Plant's famous "To be a rock and not ROOOLLLLLLL!!!" It has some of the best lyrics ever written by any band and it just has that life long lasting effect. This song is perfect, but I can't place it number 1 just because it is so popular. But, I do give credit to the greatest band for making this masterpiece.
Number 2: Kashmir by Led Zeppelin
This song is just plain epic. It has one of the best guitar riffs in history and Robert Plant just has so much vocal range in this song that is unmatched by anyone. He even said himself that Kashmir is the definition of what Led Zeppelin was all about. He was probably right. The drums are amazing, the guitar is amazing and even though the song has no solo, it doesn't need it. Its eight minutes of awesomeness that is unlike any other song I have ever heard.
Number 1: I Honestly don't know
There are too many songs I love that I cannot possibly decide what is the best song of all time. Some of my choices are "Blackbird" by the Beatles and "Yesterday" by the Beatles but that's just gonna piss people off. Plus, this list are MY favorite 24 of all time, which doesn't really mean much. But, I'm gonna leave this one to you to decide, because there is no truth in what is the best of all time.
